Inaugurated in the year 2000, the kubo-kutxa Gallery, is currently located in the unique Kursaal building designed by the architect Rafael Moneo; the gallery has become one of the most important offers in Donostia-San Sebastian’s cultural life. The kubo-kutxa Gallery has a floor space of approximately 1,000 m2, a huge space which, coupled with its distinct architecture, enables a whole range of exhibitions to be hosted.
Based on temporary exhibitions, the kubo-kutxa Gallery’s programme focuses on the plastic arts, specifically on the time interval spanning the early 20th century and the present day, and also includes various proposals from other fields of artistic expression, such as cinema, architecture or design.
The kubo-kutxa Gallery aims to reach all audience types, so it combines exhibition projects of an international nature with proposals of a local nature, divided in turn into retrospectives on major contemporary authors and group exhibitions based on various contemporary art themes.
Its significant development in exhibitions has turned the kubo-kutxa Gallery into a cultural benchmark, a place where all kinds of artistic expression can be displayed and a space that can bring together artists, experts, critics and members of the public.
